Mercy Cheredi Chore is an Associate in the Commercial Department at the firm, with a strong legal foundation in intellectual property, data protection and commercial law. She provides strategic advice to both local and international clients on data protection compliance under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, the GDPR and other regional frameworks. Mercy has played a key role in developing internal compliance structures, conducting data audits and guiding organizations through regulatory risk. Her broader practice includes advising on commercial contracts, intellectual property licensing and contentious intellectual property matters such as oppositions, cancellations and enforcement proceedings before administrative and judicial forums.
Mercy holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Kenyatta University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), actively engaging in global conversations on privacy and data governance. She has undertaken training in cybersecurity and copyright law, including through the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. Mercy also has a foundation in the French language (Level B2) and has pursued the certified secretary coursework under KASNEB, strengthening her commercial and regulatory acumen.
Mercy has a strong interest in legal writing and is particularly committed to enhancing legal awareness by presenting complex legal concepts in a clear and accessible manner. Her background in communication enables her to engage effectively with diverse audiences. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing her guitar and journaling.
